ok, i just installed an 02 viper skid on my 98, put drop brackets in the front, im getting pretty good transfer but on the trail it feels like im driving a mack truck without power steering. i have the limiter straps just snug with out any weight on it. im as loose on them as i can go. can anyone help with my steering problem?

I don't know if you running into the same probem as I did, but I put Viper in the front and rear. And in doing so when the front dropped for the new shocks, the fronts steering rods where hitting and binding in the rear of the opening in the bluk head. The issue is a couple fold. I did put long travel radius rods and tie rods. This helped the angle but in my case it wasn't so much the angle as it was where the tie rods would ride through the hole in the bulk head. There are, for a lack of a better term casting ribs I would guess for strength there where the steering rod would exit through the hole. I haven't done it yet but this summer I am going to remove a little of this material to get the tie rods to move in this hole a litte better and reduce the binding. This is only an issue when the fronts end is fully or close to fully extended. One thing that I did do was flip the inside tie rods ends over on the steering knuckle or pivot. This helped raise the tie rods up in the whole hence buying me a good 3/4 inch more clearance. I don't know if I recommend this to anyone it is just what I did, it seemed to me that the extra clearence was a good thing and it didn't cost me anything. I have had it on two good rides since I did this and it seems to work great. Just my two cents worth.

nothing seems to be binding, just real heavy on the front, im gonna try putting more preload to the skid front shock to see if that takes a little pressure off the skis, if that doesnt help im gonna go back to 4" of carbide instead of 6". i have 144 picks so i bumped up carbide, this seemed to make it steer alot harder. with the new skid it rides great and looks a little more agressive, it raised it around 4" but my other shocks were shot to. thanks for the reply but this is not the problem im having. thanks again. ;)!
