We found a snowmobile (ice) drag track in Longlac Ontario and I don't have studs, so I just watched the Cat 800ZR, two Pol 800XC's drag race and felt left out.
I checked out the snow path along side of the track and went down once to watch the race at the finish, when I got back to the start, I thought WTF and raced all of them from the snow path on the side of the race track!
I beat all three 800cc sleds and I out weighed the fastest sled by 95lbs between me and the sled!
But the amazing thing is they had lots of studs and ran on the ice AND I had no studs with 136" ripsaw and ran in the snow on the side of the track!
I did not think I had a chance, It's a big advantage to have 192 studs running on a set-up ice drag track vs no studs on snow.

I bet that ticked them off!! LOL!! Roy, I have raced several XC800's with my stocker and have not yet lost. I did race one brand new ZR800 when my Viper was new across Gogebic and I left him once I hit the 100 mark on the speedo. The guy was just shaking his head in disgust.

I think you're right about them being geared low. They seem to have A LOT of bottom end torque, but none of them have any real good top end. My buddies pro x2 especially, that thing won't do over 100 on the speedo, but it gets there very quick, not quicker than the piped SX or the SRX though

NB-Vip,
I bet your not triple piped!
You guys are missing my point,

i have beaten a zr 800 easily on the trail. i would take off on him at about 50 feet and just keep pulling away this is when i was bone stock.

if the snow was set up at all though that ripsaw probably REALLY hooked. If they were running trail studs then it should be pretty even, because they aren't very sharp and dont penetrate near as well as steel ice picks/chisels

There is a ZL800 that I can not beat out on the lake. Its a big old guy that sits back on the thing and beats me every time. 3-4 sleds on a pretty regular basis. Who knows if its stock but its definetly not piped.
Another buddy has a zl600efi and its strong down low but it never gets passed me.. He doesn't even bother lining it up any more. JW

NB-Viper, What the??? why are you getting waxed by a ZR6? It should be close out of the hole, but you should pull away after 30 or 40...check your set up...somethin ain't right. I would race ZR8's with my stock viper and would only get beat by a sled or 2 at most...Now I'm sure I can embarass them with the mods. They just got a bunch of snow up north and I can't wait to get up there...hopefully the Kitty's will be around to play.
