bar warmers on high-engine warning light flashes

I have had two different problems when I turn my '03 Viper hand warmers on high. 1. The engine warning light flashes and a different time 2. all the lights/dash go out...put on low beam and they all come back on but no warning flashing. Why can't it handle the load? The bars have NEVER been hot, the thumb warmer gets hot. My '03 RX-1 bars never got hot either so i figured it was a Yamaha saving $ thing and lowering quality. Is the problem common? Is there a fix?
 
the circuit has to be shorting out somewhere. Could be a bare wire somewhere, maybe a bad relay. If you're good with electrical components you should be able to figure it out, otherwise take it to a good dealer while its under warranty
