Fuel Shut off

I will be hauling my sled in the bed of my truck about an hour to 2 north this weekend. I trailer once a year so a fuel shut off has never been installed. Never had a problem before but was wondering if I was going to have an issue with a half full tank. If so where would I put a fuel shut off? Anyone got pics? Can it been done without pulling the air box?

i have towed my sleds and hauled them in the back of my truck several times with fuel in them and never had any problem at all, but if you are worried about it you could put in a fuel shutoff behind the airbox where the fuel line comes out of the tank.I would think you should be able to do it without pulling the airbox, but it is so easy to pull the airbox, why not just do it so that you can get at it easier?

Because I will be working at night and in the sub zero temps... Quick and easy is the way to go in those temps... I am going to leave it alone unless I am told I should really have one on there.
 
I trailer my sled everywhere and never had a problem with my viper. i used to have a pulurass that would siphon like crazy but not on my yammy
 
Trailered my viper 5 hours on a wide range of surfaces from smooth to gravel - full tank, no problems.
 
I put one on when the Viper was new just as an added theft deterrent. I have since disabled it because the hose I used wore out and began to leak and I just haven't bothered replacing the hose. I trailer for 9+ hours for some trips with a full tank of gas. Haven't ever had a problem with it.

The reason that I post though is that I found an excellent place to mount one. At the top of the left hand footrest. This is right above the toes of your boot when riding, but protected by the shape of the footrest. The beauty of this location is that it is not very visible to a thief, yet you can switch it on/off by simply pulling your left leg back and reaching up into the top recess of the footrest while sitting on the sled. There is no need to even open the hood, and anybody watching doesn't really see what you did. Although, you do feel kinda silly when you go to take off and you only get 50 feet or so before the sled dies because you forgot to turn it back on.
 
wow, thats actually a reallly good idea. Never really thought of a fuel shutoff as a reasonable theft deterrent
