what do you want the engine to do after the port job?? more top, more mid?? Are you gonna machine the heads?

hey, mrviper, i had a question for ya about porting. do you, or could you do any work on a vintage srx 440? a port and head cut job? let me know what you think, thanks!!!

more mid and top end. Actually just more power.
If someone said that I should mill the head xxx amount and change the timing this much, while doing this and that because of whatever reason and it will make this much power, I woudl probably try it.

ok,
if you want more upper mid and topend then you raise the exh port, when you do this you lower the compression ratio so youll need to cut the heads as well. Probally the old rule is raise it 1mm and flatten out the sides and floor to get rid of the casting flash, basicly widen it .5mm, cut the heads minimal amount to retain the stock compression.(.015-.020" )You might want to look up www.macdizzy.com, there is some good information there and apply it to your paticular set up. These are the old rules and alot has changed to now, these are not exact specs for your engine, so take it as a grain of salt if you will. thanx
