I need some advise from all or you guys. I got this 02 SRX this winter and have ridden it a few times already. It rides good but I felt that the hook up wasn't that great. Bought the Bender TS3 transfer rods and installed them. Took it out today with them in the full weight transfer position, ( largest gap between the rod and plastic washer), I can tell there is more weight transfer but nothing like I thought it would be. Messed around with the adjustment and I can put more ski pressure and so for but feel like I can't get hooked up that well. I have a friend with an SRX also he claims he can pull the skis up pretty much whenever he wants with his. He has no studs and neither do I, and mine won't really even come close to pulling the skis up. What am I doing wrong?? Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Whats the measurement of the limiters. You need to pull them up almost full up for a srx. Maxdlx

The rods should work fine.
I would suspect that your limit straps or middle shock need adjustment.

Is you middle shock in good "fresh" condition
Also if you let out your limit strap you will improve hook, but reduce handling. (I think MAX simply misspoke)

The rear rear shock set up will have an effect as well based on the sag otherwise known as set in.

OK so I need to lengthen the limiter strap and what else needs to be done?? As for my shocks, the sled only has 50 miles on it and was a hold over so I'm assuming that they should be good???? I'm not really sure where I need to have the transfer rods at either. With the stock ones and sitting on it I had an even gap between all plastic spacers. With the bender rods all the way backed off and my weight on it I have an even gap. In the instructions with the new rods they had me put a large plastic spacer on also. I hope this all makes sense to someone. Thank you

Alot of guys do pull there limiters way up on there srx, and then retune to get good holeshot. But if you only have 50 miles on the skid, the shocks are still way stiff, and all you will accomplish by messing with it, is having to keep messing with it for the next 1000 to 1500 miles. Then the shocks will be "broke in" and one set up will work. If you let your limiters all the way out get some polaris ideler wheels, to help save on hyfax wear. I have my straps on my 700 sx pulled up 25 mm, and can still get great hook up. There are 100's of ways to tune a sled, but it takes all Yamahas about that 1000 miles to break in. Maxdlx

look at it this way

No matter where your limiters are at, if you get the center shock to 0 preload, get your front sag back to where it was, and get the gaps on the transfer rods 50 50. It will rock back all the same and hook up. But you won't be burning up slides as bad. It is a personal preference thing, but burning hyfax up in 100 miles isn't my idea of fun. Alot of guys will just pull up there limiters an extra 15mm and never reset the rest of the skid, and no then you get a sick ridding sled. JMO Maxdlx
 
Hold on a minute... You say you have even gap w/ the Benders set at maximum transfer? Bad bad bad. You need to have either 4 or 4 1/2 (can't remember for sure) lines showing before you look a the gaps. Also, remember that the very end of the adjuster on Bender's is considered line one and you want it on 4 or 4 1/2. I bet this will take away almost all of your top gap and when you set it on here it rides like crap and is very heavy on the skis.

As for limiters... everyone I've heard of with a '00 - '02 SRX has had excessive hyfax wear without pulling the limiters up some. I personally have had decent luck with pulling the limiters up some and also running a little bit of front shock preload which is contrary to what most will say.

I still say he needs to ride it for another 500 or so miles to get everything to work right, then start trying what everyone is suggesting. Maxdlx
 
I'd agree that it definately needs some more miles on it before doing any final adjustments but the experience I had with mine I would have sold it before I hit 1000 miles. I think there's room for improvement by setting it up more for your weight now with the intention of readjusting after it gets some miles on it. Also, riding with the Bender rods set on full transfer you will run the risk of breaking the W-arm and you will want to keep a close eye on the hyfax because having things adjusted wrong can blow through a set real fast.
