RE: another clutching question
Hey guys, i was out running my sled with a slightly warn belt, my revs were a little high but other then that my 2002 mmax would run 150 on the speedo best kind, I got my new belt today and installed it and now it only runs at 120, and the rpm's dropped big time from 8800 down to 8000 even, I then put my old belt back on and voila back to 150@8800 again, what's up guys? this is a new setup I done this year and I changed many items, is this too low of a helix angle? or wrong primary clutching??

Are you sure you got the correct belt for your machine.

If you put the 89L on, the RPMS will drop, as it is a softer belt. You have to adjust the weight in the primary to compensate.
I always had better luck with the 8DN.

MM--Saw another post from you about clutching for racing.
I would stick with the 8DN belt if I were you. I would not put the 89L on. It is softer and will lower RPMs, but it wont last like the 8DN. 8DN should be the stock belt on this sled.

Actually I want to lower my RPM's on take off, im not worried about long life, I could just swap the 8dn belt on for normal driving, and race with the 89L
