Yamaha, Dayco, or parts unlimited belt?

I need to get a new belt before I go on a trip next weekend. Which one is the best choice for the buck and where do I get the best deal?

I agree with statements that OEM belts are good, but I've had better luck with Gates Extreme belts. I liked them so much I got an account with a supplier and get them at cost. One thing to think about is... who makes the belt FOR Yamaha??? They certainly don't make them themselves. According to my Gates contacts, they make the OEM Yamaha belts, but reserve proprietory technology for their own belts, making them marginally "better". BTW, I worked in an industry where many belts similar to snowmo belts were used on machinery. They were a different length, but similar. Dayco sucked and had little life expectancy, and frankly were the laughing stock of the industry. Gates had a much better reputation. Call an industrial supply house like Applied (nationwide) and ask for a candid opinion. I think Dayco sells a lot of snowmo belts because of their flashy packaging, but the product is not as good as Gates.

I the meantime, if you want to try one, I can hook you up with an Yamaha Extreme belt for about $48 plus shipping ($3.85 priority mail). They are $64.99 through Dennis Kirk

Gates? is this the same rubber mfg. out of Rockford, IL.? I believe it
's called Gates rubber company? I live about 30 min. west of Rfd.
 
The new dayco 3 beldt's are unreal they don't lose rpm's when they heat up like the 8dn and carrol make's them the same people that make yamaha beldts I think the dayco 3's are stronger.My buddy was running yamaha beldts on his open mod 1000 and only could get 3 run's on them and the beldt was junk with 270hp now with the dayco 3 he can run 10 runs and the beldt looks new.Just my 2cents
 
i was running a dayco ultimax 3 belt and put about 1000kms on it ,then hit up a lake about 7 kms long and decided to put the kettle in the kitchen and "bam" blew half way through the lake , now listened up and bought a yamaha belt, which is reliable like my sled, makes perfect sense

You need to use the belt that your clutches are set up for, or change the clutching to match the belt you choose.
