I recently bought a blown '98 SRX 700 w/Ohlins, and after getting cyber bitch slapped by TY members for wanting to part it out, I put 'er back together with Wisecos. I just got back from a trip to Minocqua and all I can say is WOW! I never rode an SRX and did not think it could be much faster than my Viper ER, but totally is and I wasn't really even holding it wide open!!
:WayCool: I did miss the Electric start and reverse though.

The Ohlins are sensational and I highly recommend them to anyone that does not have them.

I did notice 2 things I'd like some advice about though...

1. since my viper has el start, I'm not used to pulling a 700 triple. for the first pull of the day it was VERY stiff, but fired up like any other sled after 2-3 pulls. once it has been running for a minute or so, it pulled freely and would start with 1/2 pull. Normal??

2. After about 100 miles, I notice some "spooge" (oily mung) coming from the center cylinder's power valve cable right where the cable penetrates the aluminum housing on the cylinder. I see there are a few o-rings in there, so I imagine it is a matter of changing them. Is this a tough job? Any hints or instructions??

Thanks.

I'm heading for minocqua fri. how was the trails? how much snow?

Glad to see you like the sled they do work very well especially when set up right with a little clutch work and the suspension set up to your satisfaction. As to the starting question yours sound pretty normal,my 98 pulls pretty hard first thing in the AM and after that it's like you said a half pull & it'll fire up.The power valve leaking is something I've had too and there's a seal as well as an o ring inside the tower so you'll probably wind up replacing both. They can be a bit of a pain to get sealed up completely but if you persist you should be able to.

Cam2,
Trails are totally shot, unless we get a major storm it won't be worth it. I tried to go out today (48 degrees) and it's done.
