I was wondering if I could get an Honest opinion from someone who has enjoyed riding a REV and is a Yamaha rider. I am seriously concidering jumping to the blue team after seeing the info on the Apex RTX.

Reliability is key and Yamaha has that.

I'll give you my honest opion.. My friend has an 600 ho rev an I think the thing rocks its fast comfortable looks cool..a little too soft of a ride for me but I've liked riding it but...a rev or a rx1 or warrior or apex...I'll stay with the yamaha. What it comes dwn to is product quality and the four stroke that was done right... I have yet to have a problem with a stock sled....in fact if I was riding from the east to the west coast on a snowmobile I have more faith in my 2000 srx with 5k than anything other manufactures brand new one.. like anything else you will find positives and negatives about any product...rode my cousins 05 rx1 this weekend for miles and loved it...honestly you might want to ride one even an 05 or 04 rx1 to decide....at least 10 miles or so then get back on the rev then get back on the rx1 that should do it. it will at least give you a good idea of what to expect..

I ride with mostly revs & f-cats. although the rev is great for taking the real rough stuff, i don't really like the front end diving down in the sharp corners. I have rode several revs for a length of time and do like them.
I , myself was thinking of a rev for next year but i'll think i'll hold off until i ride an Apex.

Yamaha?
I have never ridden a Rev, but I do read alot of post on different sites. Just about every site has some one bitching about thier sled breaking down for one reason or another. It is always the same old thing with Polaris, AC, and Skidoo, brag them up and then bitch about them when they are down.
One thing I rarely see is anyone bitching about their Yamaha breaking down on the trail time after time. I did see a post this season though of a guy that didnt like the snow flap on his RX1 with reverse, because it got sucked into the track. (big deal).
I would stay with Yamaha for sure.

After being on Dootalk all I can say is "flying nun". They seem to be pop cans(easily crumpled). The rev is a nice ride but it is extreme rider forward. I have felt the yamahas to be reliable also, a good dealer is a plus.

My only complaint about Yamaha is how low the seat sets compared to the rev it is night and day differance , and the rev is much more comfortable
If you dont own tools a Y is a safe bet, and the factory will support you if you have a problem.
If you like to ride hard and bang the bumps and go fast - I suggest you try another light weight machine. However, you best own tools even for the small things to retighten etc. AC (for example) usually dont "break down" anymore, but they need a lot of tlc.
You cant really ask this question in a Y forum (and same with asking about doo in dootalk etc - )

My buddy has a REV, and no doubt, that thing ROCKS through the moguls, you can just pound for hours without being too sore, but any other conditions i like my SXR and SRX. They are incredible through the corners, much more predictable, better on gas and oil, not to mention A LOT less wrench time. This year two of my buddies left yamaha, one for polaris and one for the rev. I think they will both be back on yamaha's next year.

my best friend rides a rev and at the end of every ride he complains about his knees.
i guess if you ride hard your knees take a pounding against the front of the cowel??
I have never rode it. I don't have much interest in ski doo.
i guess if you are willing to wear boots and a helmet why not strap on a pair of knee pads too. just be prepared to hear the knee pad jokes from everyone you ride with.

All my riding buddys including my wife switched to Doo, now I lose trail time while I help work on their sleds. Or they help me work on my wifes!!

I just rode an apex last weekend. it feels lighter than my viper, reminds me of my old 97 600 sx (yes, it was light) handles and rides amazing, and sits like a rev without HAVING to ride the tank. can if you want, but can also sit back and cruise. also can say that on the test ride that there were a good amount of rev and fcat riders saying they were getting one for next year, the ride made the decision for them
