I went for a 60 mile ride today (in about 2 hours) may have been pushing her alittle. And all I can say is that the SRX is a blast. Maybe it is outdated and does'nt have the best ride but they sure are fun. That is probably why I own two of them. Kudos to Yamaha for building such a fine sled!
They have that really good grunt when you get on them and have good traction...still a great sled...

I agree i love my srx you can ride it so hard in the trails, and fast. I solved my ride problems with an expert x its awesome! Long live the SRX

first time with the '01 on the trails this weekend, can't wait to see how she is. It can only be better than the '98 i have put a lot of miles on.

yah they are great on hard packed snow but I wish they had a little more torque to push when the trails get loose. But on a hard packed lake they sure hurt alot of bigger sleds feelings(to bad for them)

you wish they had more torque? They have too much torque so traction is an issue. Get a tall lugged track on their and some weight transfer and you will be in business on ANY type of snow.

80pounds of torque vs my zr 900 110 pounds of torque is a big difference and I do have a big track. If you know the secret to an srx running in 5" of powder like a big twin does you have to tell me.

on a CVT, torque isn't a big deal man, engage the SRX at 5500-6000 and you're way ahead of the cat in terms of power.
Increasing the displacement to 900cc should do it.

TopGunn, does the expert x affect the top end speed lots?

THANK YOU JUNIOR!!! This is what i was trying to say for so long on all of those posts about engines for watercraft vs. sleds.

loose some weight on the front....A 136" 1.25-1.50 and some simmons skis would do just fine!

lol, I hear ya man. everyone is making such a huge deal of torque, and it does matter to a certain extent, but who the hell cares what kinda power your motor is making before it engages? tq is irrelevant, hp @ rpm is what matters, whether you engage at 2000 and rev to 5000, or engage at 6000 and rev to 11000, it's the same difference to the driveline, and it's alot easier to make more jam in the higher rev ranges.
the track doesn't care what rpm the motor is turning, it cares how much power is being applied. power = tqxrpm/5250
the reason a ZR9 will outclimb an SRX isn't the motor.

there was a mountain srx forsale last year in my area, and it was in mint condition, but it had 4000 miles and they were asking like 4500 for it. I was like you guys must be off your rocker. Would've been fun to have though.

Mountain SRX is an awesome machine, same idea as the warrior, only older and an SRX, not an RX-1
