How tight should the chain be on an SRX? Someone told I should screw the adjuster till its finger tight then tighten the lock adjuster.

grab the secondary and rotate as if you were trying to make the sled move forward. this will pull all the slack in chain to the idler side. otherwise it seemed difficult for me to feel when it got properly snug. doing it that way, it was clear when it tightened up hand tight. i ran one day with it to tight (used a wrench cause i couldn't tell if it was tight by hand the first time) and the chain buzzed loud when i let off the throttle.

board members told me a loud chain is a too tight change. did as i mentioned above with warm chain case oil and it clearly snugged up tight by hand. nice and quite now and i am confident in the tension.
and don't forget to tighten the jam nut ;)!

hope this helps

Secondary clutch should have about 1" play back & forth....otherwise your chain is loose. Easy way to check & quick.
