I have a 1998 Yamaha XT600 twin which uses about a litre of oil every 100km. This is a used pump I put on the machine after the original quit and damaged both cylinders and pistons. The engine constantly smokes but runs perfect. I have already adjusted the lever as loose as it will go on the cable but it doesent seem to make any difference. Does anyone know if the earlier pumps used excessive oil and maybee this pump is working fine for its age(unknown what year pump is but do know that the numbers on the castings are one number out) I would appreciate any help on the subject Thanks kenl
some of the early pumps are bad...they didnt harden the injector tips and they wear out and dump the oil....
