All, After 9631 miles my SRX Let GO!!!!!!!!!! Got towed by Ski Doo, (No pics atleast!) got her home and opened her up to find piston rod bearing Clutch side SEIZED! Hoped it was just a piston, Oh well it doesn't owe me anthing! It was a great sled for 5 years and put many a grin on my face!!!!!!!!!! I am thinking of rebuild? Part it out? What do you guys think? Thanks

Rebuild or sell for parts? Offers?
All, Motor bearing (lower crank) seized on piston rod clutch side but the rest of the motor all looks good ( jugs, head, other two pistons, rest of the crank etc...) I have done upper parts of motors before but never had to get into the lower section. I want to do the whole motor top to bottom, can someone give me a cost to have this done or if I do most or all myself? One cylinder will need to be honed (minor) but it looks like the rest are fine. I just helped a body do his MXZ 600 upperhalf and it cost him about $300.00 I figure with3 cylinders upper half will cost about $450.00 but not sure on lower? This late in the year I am done riding but here is my Issue, I am in the Navy and will be moving to south for atleast two more winters ( no riding) Do I keep it and rebiuld it and then not ride for 2 years or sell it for parts? I just put a ripsaw, new drive bearings, clutch parts,ETC......... I have many extras..... The sled is awsome and rides and handles great, In two years I will probaly go to an RX1, so What do I do? Anyone want a parts sled Cheap today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make me an offer!

I'll buy the whole thing for a Grand.
Terry - thats really bad news! Normally I would say to dump it and upgrade to a 01-02. In your case, however, I would rebuild since it's in great shape and I know you already have the long travel suspension, ripsaw, etc... The other thing to consider is that RX1 prices are going to plummet soon with the release of the Appex. If you decide to do some, or all of it on your own please email or call me and I'll come over and help (856-0177).
Also - when do you have to move South again? I didn't realize you were only going to be in Maine for such a short time.

I'd say part it out, but $1000 isn't a bad offer, and a whole lot less hassle.
If you've got the time you'd get more than that pretty easy parting it out.
youve got clutches, hood, maybe a good seat, track, 2 good cylinder (and one not so good), 3 good heads, powervalves, carbs are worth a little something, long travel skid, trailing arms.

if its just going to be sitting for two years, either sell it or part it out.
