Yamaha will have on 06 Apex ER and one 06 Attak at the Demo rides in Munising this weekend. Both units are still early calibration, but both units run and are approved for demo use and will be there.

I will post more details as soon as I can....

Yamaha will also definitely have one Apex ER and one Attak to ride at this event in the NE.

I'm Bummin!!!

BUMMER...
I was leaving in the morning to go ride up there thru tuesday and my friend just bailed because of last minute work that he can't get out of. =(
Anyone going to up there riding for the weekend? I would like to still check out the 06's but don't want to drive 6 hours just to check them out. I was planning on doing some riding as well. Have a cabin booked in Christmas but that can change.
I am new here to the site and love it. I know it's kinda last minute but was hoping to somehow salvage my trip and get some last bit of the season riding in. I am riding an 05 RX-1 and have a 01 SRX as a spare that I will bring. I will ride 100 or 400 miles a day. I don't care...I just want to ride but don't think it's a good idea to ride alone.
Damn I hate when this happens....

Anyone????
Thanks,
Kurt

Kurt, I believe he is speaking of the demo ride in NY, not the one in Muni. I may be in the area, is the phone nuber you listed a cell phone that you will have with you?

Test ride update 05's and two 06's Apex long and short.....showed up early at Trails End in Camden NY (Great stop on the trail), the ride was moved from Marble Hill , conditions were varied they had groomed the night before, so the main trails were smooth with a few rollers, a nice tight common bump section ...stayed 3 hours and rode all of the 05's that were there to demo...

05's were the Rx1 mono, Rage w/ 136 proaction, and Vector's new torsion.

05' Rx1 mono nice power real sweet at faster speeds the motor drag took a little to get used to, definitely could feel the weight through the bumpier sections, i know the sled is set up for average rider seemed soft and I took a couple hits to the back, the supension seemed a little bumpy on the trail chop, overall impression was good but definitely had a better impression after riding the rx1 for a while, did not have that snap heading toward a bump and getting into it like a 2 stroke , once you saw bumps coming you could spool the motor up and the get ready to nail it just before then it was just getting used to how the clutches came into that power, this sled screams open me up, speeds hit were about 65mph and that was fast enough so smooth was the engine up top can only imagine about being on a lake...enough said.
05' Vector with new torsion skid was really smooth, very surprised at how well this sled rode did manage to get my back a couple of time but not like the mono again need adjustment for my weight, engine for being a 120hp seemed slow to me out of the hole once up to speed with the throttle down plenty of power definitely more linear power than the rx1, front suspension was smoother over all bumps and did handle better than the rx1.
05' Rage with 136 proaction, this being the same sled as the vector 120hp this sled rode extremely well was able to ride back to back with a rx1 and this sled was smoother seemed to span the bumps nice, again smooth motor plenty of power, left the demo thinking why the new skids?? ripsaw track saw gave nice hookup, front rode well , smoother accross the chop through the woods.

06 Apex 150hp fuel injected, the overall look of these sleds were nice on the eyes, the seats look better than the photos and the new body work ups the ante for the other manf. to play catch up again, the sleds had a really sano looking rear l.e.d. tail lights, new key, trick looking handlebars, gages ....this is a sled?? i kept telling myself...
The ride was a shorter course and the snow was soft and deep at least two feet..throttle seemed snappy, overall feel was a little tipppy not used to it for one and the soft snow conditions, two laps around on each the long and short track, seems they cured the slower acceleration out of the hole with this clutching calibration, snappy. Hit some good sized bumps to get a feel for the more forward and higher positioning, the seat was thick and soft reminded me of the exciter seats of old.

Hands down the ride of the day was the vector, good power nice ride, i am still partial to the two stroke but could definitely see myself on one of these next season....

Thanks and hats off to Mr. Sled for posting this event....

Would like to say thanks to J and J Yamaha Motorsports and crew and to Yamaha for giving me the opportunity to ride these sleds...they did an excellent job of organizing this event...look them up in Onieda or Sherburne N.Y.

Great reports....;)! Just glad you had the opportunity to ride them...the 06 was TIPPY?? Damn I just got back from loggin almost 400 miles on a RTX...never felt tippy..

I was able to ride the new Attack at the Munising demo...that was definitely a rocket ship compared to my old '98 600 Mountain Max. Rode really smooth, and the throttle response was instant.

Also got to ride the Warrior, 2 different RX-1's, and the Rage.

My first time to ride a 4 stroke, and I must say I was impressed by the throttle response on all of them, along with the low end torque.

The Rage was my least favorite, it felt the most tippy, and had the roughest ride.

They took us on a 25 minute test ride...started out across a couple miles of the bay, and then up some steep hills and into the twisty trails just behind town, and then back across the bay. There seemed to be few rules...everyone just grabbed a sled and away we went. Close to 100 mph across the bay, and very fast on the trails as well.

Gotta start saving my money now for an upgrade!
