2002 Viper with 136 USA extension 136 x 1-1/2 9 tooth drivers
how deep can I go with 8 tooth drivers?
can or should I relocate the skid to go to 144???

You could relocate the skid but your ride would suffer..better off to go the 144"...I have a complete skid for $600 with only 500 miles on it and a track for only $175..Terry

im running a 136 x 1 3/4 polaris track with the anti slip 9thooth drivers , if you go to 8thooth drivers your going to have to play with the gearing and well i just never could get the top end back with the 8thooth drivers,

If you have a 121 suspension and you install a stock Viper 144 suspension complete, you have to relocate the skid back 9" anyways. It is the way to go though, better approach angle and rails that keep the front track pressure on the snow. As for gearing from 9 to 8s you are probably going to have to gear down to turn that 2" track anyways. You will need lots of power to make a 2" have top end probably not enough to do 90 mph.

really need to gear down anyway 21/38 with 9 tooth drivers = 1.8
21/38 w/ 8 tooth drivers = 2.03
20/38 w/ 8 = 2.14
20/40 w/ 8 = 2.26
stk Viper Mountain 21/40 w/ 8 tooth drivers = 2.14
not really concerned about top end if I would do this
just GETTING TO THE TOP! of the mountain that is
is there a pattern I could use to relocate the modified 136 for a 144 or 141?

template

I have a template that our Yamaha shop used to long track a couple of 02 Vipers to 144 and 151. I Thought this kit and template came from Yamaha Canada in 02 but I'm not sure. I'll try to post pics or better yet can E mail them. Your call...
