viper crank in srx

hope I don't get in trouble for screwing up this one to, but from what I know they are interchangable, but not the same part, viper uses porkchop style crank throws vs the SRX's round style. means less crankcase compression, and less rotating mass in the crank. part of why the vipers feel lighter.

yea i bit my tongue too, i'm pretty sure they are interchangeable, but didn't want to say anything because i'm not 100% postive.

junior, was there a significant difference in weight or performance when you went with the viper crank? thanks guys, much appreciated!!!

it's a couple pounds, alot for rotating mass, but I think that the loss in crankcase compression ratio negates anything you pick up in rotating mass.

it should be in the advertising info for the vipers back in 02. I don't have 02 stuff kicking around tho. somebody will have it tho I'm sure.

wow a couple pounds would make a big difference if that was the only change, would be able to rev a lot quicker.

I belive its approx. 2.6 LBS. A local racer dynoed a 01 srx using a Viper bottom end (cases and crank) and found about 5-6 HP increase.

that would be interesting to do if you had both lying around. Just take all the best from each, build one awesome sled with all "stock" parts.

that's what we predicted and why we tried it. didn't work out how we had planned tho, for whatever reason, she didn't go faster.
