Apex, what class??

Journeyman, it will not be decided until April 24th at the ISR meeting in Milwaukee WI. Yamaha is trying to keep it in the 600 class yet though.

It should also be noted that it doesn't matter if the displacement changed or not. 4-strokes in any kind of racing are rated on their "performance level" not their cc's.

that's odd. seeing as in 2003, ISR wanted it in 600sp and yamaha insisted that it go in 700mp (since it was replacing the SRX) the next year ISR bumped it back down to 600, no protest.

I find it odd that they're not stepping up to plate like they did in 03
 
I figured it was by performance/HP. I have a bad feeling it will end up in the 700 class. I am sure Yammie wants it in the 600 class for the Enduro circuit, no doubt.

the way they are marketing it it SHOULD be in the 700 class, or even the open class.

in my opinion, in order to save face, the apex has to be competative in ATLEAST the 700 class for endurance, snowcross and in particular drags, since that's where yamaha has always flexed there muscle.

at the same time tho, if they try to bite off the 700 class and it turns out to be more than they can chew, they lose face again like they did for MY2004.


in short... this sled better be as fast as they say it is, 'cause they've made some bold claims that the racers are gonna have to back up.

from what I can see tho... it wont be an issue, they seem to be fast enough, and the fuel injection means that now we can play the blackbox game that cat and doo have been playing for a few years :rockon:
