Got a great deal on an 04 Viper ER. I would normally opt for the non-er model but the price was too good to pass up. Coming off a Rev, I certianly downgraded in the ride-comfort department. Now I have a little extra cash to put into it. Looking for opinions.

1. M-10 or Expert X?
2. Has the shock issue been addressed on the 04's?
3. Need to shed weight. What is the best silencer for weight loss without major volume increase?
4. Any other secrets to shaving weight?
5. Has anyone tried a seat wedge for more rider-forward position? Lagit or gimmic?
6. Any opinions on Bender single pipe?
7. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

M-10 for a Plush/cushy ride, 04 ER has softer valving in the shocks. Silencer....I say leave it stock but others can comment on that. NO to the Bender single, no gain. I would buy a Boss Hi-rise seat. Drop some weight and gets you closer to the ride position you want. ===SRXSRULE===

There are a lot of options to lose weight on that model, but it will cost you a lot.

What type of riding are you trying to set it up for?

Fast in the flats an dhard in the bumps. Rode yesterday in the rough stuff. I would just as soon gun it through the rough stuff rather than go slow and go insane. First time I've had a stiff back since owning a Rev.

xsivhp, Sold the Rev with anticipation of getting an Apex GT. Then, the sky opened up and it seemed like snow fell here in Maine for a month straight. Couldn't go without riding and missed that triple powerplant and slot-car like cornering. Not to mention the great deal I got.

I've decided to do the same with the Apex. No more paying all that money for a brand new sled. I'll wait untill this time next year when someone gets all gaga over the 07's and buy a low miles GT for much left.

I'm thinking I'll keep the Viper as a second sled (now more 2 strokes) and try some mods on it.

Bucky you still have that viper... I got it from a ty member.. I can't seem to remeber the price. Was around 1,000. New springs, hyfax and the shocks redo... Top end I am not sure about. I would figure not much at all. I had her to 90 MPH on the lake in pittsburg last weekend with a stock viper with a guy a lot lighter than me and he could only hit 90mph too. Lots of powder and stuff.

Bucky if you end up wanting to do a M10 let me know. I can lend you a hand.

yesterday I just bought a brand new m10 through fast themselves. they have $500 end of the year marked off the m10. I paid 1150 with the remote aluminum body shocks (zero pro shocks). you better call quick cause they only had about 4 left as of yesterday. I heard it's because they maybe releasing the m16 next year.

I'm sure the m10 is going to be a night and day experience compared to the stock pro action on my 00 srx. However, I have noticed the m12 is prettry attractive. what is the difference between that and the m10?

My understanding is that the M12 is for sleds thatt already have long travel suspensions.
I'm actually leaning towards an Expert X. Really don't like the idea of loosing top end and have heard many have.

hasn't anyone found a shock and spring combintation that would make a proaction ride as well as an m10. I only ask because yamaha seems to be on top of everything and if the concept of an m10 was a better design don't you think yamaha would be using it?

The Expert X is a sweet suspension. I had a 136" in my 02' Viper and i loved it. Excellent weight transfer and it rode nearly as good as an m-10 with no loss of top end. Its well worth the money.

i would go with the expert x, shocks are revalved in the er but not the non er, i've had good luck with my bender silencer, srxsrule is right on the pipe, i have the bender single pipe no hp gain, sounds real good w/bender silencer and is alot lighter than the stock pipe though. i wouldn't really worry about the weight loss. i've rode revs before, don't feel lighter than my viper and def. not as fun a sled as the viper
