My wife & I are moving from International Falls, MN to Escanaba, MI and I was just wondering if there are any other TY members from that area. I did a search of members and no one turned up but I'm sure someone is close by. Just wanted to get an idea of what the trail system is like around there.

Im from Ishpeming, about 1 hour north by car. You may be able to do some riding there, but i really think it would be worth your time to trailer north to gwinn, or chatham area, as there will always be more snow in these areas. From both places, you can easily access trails which sould take you to nearly any destination in the UP.

What brings your to the UP? Work?

UP Move

98srx6 - Yes, work. My wife & I both work at a paper mill in I'Falls. Things are a changin' at the mill and we figured we'd get out while the gettin' was good. Both got excellent offers from a mill in Escanaba which puts us much closer to both of our families as well. I knew the riding wouldn't be great right in Escanaba but it looks like you could easily ride or trailer just a bit further north and be into some great riding.

srxxx86 - I've been over to your neck of the woods a couple times in the past few years. Only made it over there once this winter but the riding was excellent.

lol, way to get out of the pollution capital of northern MN, i mean I falls.

Damnm shoulda stopped by! what kinda yammi do you have?

I grew up in Norway, about 50 miles from escanaba. when the snow is good, the trails are great because they aren't trashed, everyone heads up to the lake supior coast.

Escanaba is a great place to live. congratulations

Sled

I currently have an '02 CPR piped Viper w/ M-10 but I'm ordering an Apex GT and dumping the old Viper. It's been a good sled though - 7300 miles and no mechanical issues whatsoever. I'm sure I'll be back up in I'Falls to ride with some friends next winter - I'll make sure to drop you a PM in case you want to hook up with us.

I live in Marquette which is only an hour north of Escanaba.

I ride some in this area, but actually do most of my riding over by Curtis/Seney/Newberry where we have a cabin. The trail system north of those towns is one of the best in the state (along with being right in the snow belt).

Conditions here are still excellent with the exception of in town. We got 4-5 inches of new snow yesterday. Should be no problem riding until the 1st of April as long as we don't get any heavy rain.

Roach & I live in escanaba, there isnt really any trail system right now, but they say they are working on it. There are alot of local trails not realy snowmobile trails, but trails to get you to the rivers and to the lake. From the lake you can get to rapid river where all the trials hook in. Also you can take the ford river up all the way up to gwinn or you can get off in labranche/watson to hook in with thoughs trails.
