I stopped to check my oil after 100 miles and was shocked to see it was only down 3/4 inch from full! I don't know when the end of the oil cable came out of the pump arm, but it must have been for awhile. I had it set to 21mm and everything seemed fine. Has anyone ever had this happen to their SRX before? I'm probably lucky I didn't sieze the motor. I ended up premixing to get it back home.

wow, you are really lucky that it didn't seize, shows the durability of these engines, had to have still been getting a little bit of oil (like it was idling). Where did it come unhooked? at the handlebars or down on the pump?

It came unhooked at the pump arm. I was also running amsoil interceptor, which I am crediting for not siezing the motor.

whatever the reason, you got lucky
Hey how hard was that to hook back up. I need to put a longer cable on mine
since i put on a riser. Looks like you have to pull the carbs out.

Its easy to hook up...but you do need to pull the carbs, and i also had to remove the rear motor mount that is above the pump.
Just wondering is there is any difference between a 98 vs. a 2000.
I didn't look like I had to take out the motor mount but I could be wrong.

Maybe you wont need to remove the mount.
