I have just purchased a 99 SRX with 8500 miles. It has been ridden extreemly easy and is in excellent condition. The first belt was replaced at 6700 miles if that gives you an idea. It was also serviced at the dealer every year with receipts. What I am wondering is what you guys think needs to be replaced to insure a dependable sled. I will be replacing all drive bearings, reeds, and clutching. I am putting a new track on it so that won't be an issue although the original is in great shape. Compression is 120 on all three. Am I missing anything you guys would do?

Check reeds, powervalve ends & cables. Also take a look for cracks in the w-arms in the front of the skid.

I second the motion to check the W arms. No matter the miles, these are notroius for breaking on the SRX's. check them very thorough. Both me and a buddy had one break and when mine went it bent everything on the skid and ripped the track a foot through the windows. my buddy caught his when he saw mine break.

Sounds good guys. I will be going through and setting the power valves. I also am adding Viper shocks to the rear. When I do that I am going to weld the W-Arm. I have not decided about the rings. I am doing the lift and cut job so it will be apart. We'll see. What do you guys think about the crank case bearings? That's about the only thing I haven't done on a SRX. I don't really hear of them going bad too often. It was fogged every summer.

yeah that engine rips, but before I put the engine in my sled, I had to turn the heads around. I guess the guy through the heads on backwards. Made me alittle worried but all the torque setting were right. I went over everything twice prior re-essembly. Mixed my gas once for the break in. Alot of people forget to bleed the oil pump and air gets trapped in the hose line. Thats not a good thing. -Garth

ditto.

then check gas before each ride. :WayCool:
it's good for MANY mor miles.

crank bearings definately aren't too big of an issue on the srx's and vipers if they are fogged correctly every summer and as long as they are getting oil.

Crank bearings

Mine went @9561 miles! I ride mine pretty hard and always summerized with fooging oil and fuel stable too! enjoy !
