I just purchased a scoot for my boys to ride. I know nothing about them and am wondering other than gas and oil, what other general pre ride maintenance should I be doing? Also what year end should I be doing other than fuel stabalizer? Its in really good shape and I want to keep it that way.

I have one for my kids 5, 8, and 10 yrs old. They younger 2 love it the 10 yr old is too old to enjoy it. I'm all ears on the gereral maintanance other than the usual too.
I wish the start was a pull vs kick start.

Your 10 year old is to old for it! LOL I am 15 and I still cant get enough of these things. As for maintenence make sure they fill it up with gas and oil every morning before they ride it. Yamalube 2 stroke works perfect for these single cylinder motors. At the end of the year we usually just put some stable in the gas tank, run it for 5-10 minutes and store them in doors. We have done this since we bought them in 90' and they still run like they are new.

I enjoy riding it around the yard too, but it would get old pretty quick on a trail. My 10 yr old son wants that new SkiDoo Freestyle 300cc single 2 stoke.
