Watch your belt for water sprayage! have fun Take off the seat and put on a boat cushion too so if you do sink it ur seat doesnt become a sponge!

Put her to the bar... All that you need to do. Here is a pic of my buddy on his SRX... He claims it's pretty good on water (watch for that water on the clutch as Top Gunn pointed out). My buddy says the old exciter was a little better ont he water but the SRX has got the power to do it no problem.

If your going to be doing alot of skimming tape up all the vents and screens. That way theres less chance of water getting to the belt. Also you can take of the seat if you want like TG said.

Make sure there isn't a big hole in the belly pan right in front of the primary clutch...that really doesn't help..trust me. Oh, and don't try and do "wheelies"....trust me.
Here's a trick..Take a trouble light (turn it on) and put it under your belly pan. Turn off your shop light. Look under the hood around your clutchs. If you can see light in that area take some silicone and fill the gap/hole. That will keep things dryer. I know my sled doesn't like to hit the water at high speeds..it gets kinda "loose"..but that's something you'll have to figure out for yourself. Try short shallow stretches first...with lots of friends around...don't be a hero lol.

This is important
****WEAR A LIFE JACKET**** even if you think its shallow. Better yet a wet suite and a life jacket.
don't turn the ski's in the direction to want to go or you will **flip over**
other than that have fun

definately do as Doc said and silicone up all the areas where light shows through, or you will be going for a swim. My '97 SX was the cat's a$$ on water.

My srx behaves quite well on water.

Tie that seat cousion to the steering gate with a long rope if you are over deep water so it can float up if the sled goes down! Sure beats goin' diveing to tie on a rope. Yami has come cool ski jackets to save your a** if you pass out from all the fun!!! lol!!!!!!! give er!!!!

There's a big hole below the front heat exchange, You should fill it full of silcon and any other holes you see, if not you belt will skip and then you sink. I had problems with my SRX and the water is not very warm..

I would not suggest water skipping then, it will be fatal if anything were to happen to your sled. Granted it is a Yamaha, if any thing happens, you will regret it. Dont do it.

yea man i honestly wouldn't do it. The relative chance of going down is not worth it by any means. I think pretty much everyone that skips water for a couple years eventually has an incident of some type. Its just not worth it if you can't swim, especially because your body movement really slows down when you hit that cold water. It becomes very hard to move within a couple minutes or less. I have fallen through the ice on our lake a few times in my days, and it is always a huge shock to the body. Even if its shallow its hard to climb out because the muscles get so weak in the cold water.

I've waterskipped before on my 98 zr 500 without an issue. I passed up the chance to skip this weekend becase i wasn't sure how it'd do with the skis way up in the air (lose limiter straps and traction control all the way up). I did go over a 3 foot deep 10 foot stretch with my 79 drifter 440 though.. man.. i didnt think i was gonna make it! the lugs are like .3 inches on that thing.
