Well, after a hardcore ride today....I blew the track out of my SRX so it is retired for the season. Too bad because there are several weeks of riding to do and I love the top end lake rides in April. My Mountain RX-1 won't be any good for that.

The plastic part on the tip of the rail broke off sometime during the ride...the first 6" of the slider broke off and finally the rail drove through the track. Thank God it happened when I was going slow. I was just going about 170km/hr just shortly before. Anyway, the rail wore down at the tip too so it won't hold a new slider on. I know of a RX1 skid floating around...so I am wondering if that could just be bolted into my 00 SRX chassis.

yes it'll fit, but you'll have to drill new holes in the tunnel

o3 rx1 skid

Yes,
It bolts right in. Thats is how I started my long travel journey.
Check the shocks on the new skid. The 03 RX1 had crummy shocks.
Pioneer Proformance has a nice set up. Revalved shock a stiffer rear spring
:WayCool:

yes you dont need to drill new holes, it will bolt right in. He is right about the shocks though, they are pretty much junk on the '03 rx1's. Find a set of viper or sxr shocks, or even a set of ohlins and you would definately be in business.

sorry, i was meanin the monoshock design, forgot that 03 rx1 was proaction my bad

My dad just put an m-10 in his RX-1, so he has a skid frame that he can't use so maybe I could put that in my 00 SRX if you guys say that it will fit. Do you have to put a different suspension in the front?

you don't have to, but it may look somewhat unbalanced, like the rear is real jacked up. I would say most people don't do anything to the front when they long travel the rear. If if were me, i would probably just tighten up the preload on the front springs quite a bit to get the front to sit higher, balancing the front with the rear.

I am assuming that I would have to buy the rear mounting bracket because, my dad had to use that for his m-10. Would I be correct?

you mean the extensions that stick down from the tunnel and connect to the upper rearmost arm of the suspension?

you don't need those, they are for mounting the suspension in the rx1 because the rx tunnel uses more of a taper, so the point where the suspension connects to the tunnel needed to be dropped. Bolt in the srx without the drop brackets and it should be perfect.
