One of my friends just bought a '97 MM700. All stock except an SLP can. Didn't run great all day. It would run ok with new plugs and eventually would foul them out. Went through several sets. Plugs had heavy black goop all over them.
Finally quit and towed him back to the truck. Sort of funny, but turned out he ran out of fuel. No one even thought of looking since we had only gone 60 miles.
I have no other info to give until we take the carbs apart to find out what jetting he has.
What is a recommended jetting for this sled????
We are at 2800 - 3000 ft.
I will check the choke, maybe float levels, needle/seat.
Oil consumption was ok.
What else should I be looking for???
This is his first Yami, and already he's not happy. Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.....

try 142's. Definately get in there and clean those carbs, make sure nothing is corroded or worn out. Set the floats, make sure the needles are set correctly.

140 mains, #50 pilots, fuel screw out 1 1/2 turn, lower needles 1/2 right across. Good to -20C.

Turks recommendations will get you in the ball park...except I think he meant to say 50 pilots rather than 150.
Check the choke cable adjustment. Make sure there is some slack when the choke is off.
Make sure the airbox is clean and that the intake filters are clean.
If the carbs are clean, jetting, floats, and choke are correct, check the vacuum pulse line to the fuel pump...if it is wet with gas on the inside your fuel pump is bad.

i have seen three fuel pumps go bad this year. There have been several articles and news bulletins this winter about the gas being sold not being up to the EPA standards for cleanliness and detergents. Seems like an obvious connection to me.

Thanks for the info.
It was sort of fun spankin him bad with my 600, but I know that won't last long.
