Looking for opinions on either. Time to rebuild or replace my 02 shocks. I want to know if the either of these shocks are too soft for aggressive riding or can you adjust the spring preload to make them work? I really dont mine the hard 02 shocks, except in stutter bumps!

I did the upgrade shocks from Yamaha. The softer shocks are OK in the rear as you can adjust the preload. The front shocks were way to soft and pushed really bad in the corners. Now i'm set up with the original 02 shocks up front and the softer package in the rear. Looking back I would have been better off just rebuiding the rear shocks to suit my riding style and weight. It would have been just about the same cost and I would be set up even better. Go with the rebuild!

that has been my experience as well, the rears are fine with the shock package but the fronts are too soft. Get them rebuilt for your rider weight and style.

I have ridden both and have to say the new fronts I have not had a problem with... No pushing at all. I hated the rear shocks due to bottoming them out on rolling bumps so I went to the M10. Stock 02 shocks were way to stiff on the stutter bumps...

I have heard nothing but good things about Pioneer Performance. The price ain't bad(all four,170+ship) I will be sending in mine this summer. Has anyone else used these guys, and to you guys who asked for a more aggressive ride, how much difference did their revalving make ? http://www.pioneerperformance.net/ Soc

I had Bruce long travel my SX 700 shocks this past year and let me tell you, they out performed my Viper in every aspect. I would love to put those shocks under my Viper if it would work. That 700 just nailed the rough trails, even with the short travel on the front. I will definately send my Viper shocks to him. I was asking because I had not gone to Yamaha to get my updated shocks. I may still get them but I want to keep my old shocks. I think most of you guys have kept them from waht I have heard after a waiting period. I call Monday.

the pioneer rebuild is the best $$ I have put into the viper. great for fast and aggresive riding. I actually noticed that it sits a little lower in the front now and therefore handles better. all around WELL worth it!!!!!!!
