How much performance can you get out of these on a single pipe Viper? Looking at the Fixx heads or Maxx Performance. Would removing one gasket accomplish the same thing? I am using a rear heat exchanger, so cooling would be improved over stock. Trying to improve performance without killing fuel economy! I have my clutching dialed in finally so I am looking in another direction.

the aftermarket heads will give you a little more if you get smaller volume chambers, and they are cut differently so detonation is as much of a problem as just pulling gaskets. The cooling is improved because of the "steps" on the outsides of the combustion chambers. The other good thing about the aftermarket heads is that you can change the chambers if you need more compression because of an alititude change or racing, etc.

Yea, thats what I thought. Iam sure that it requires premium with any compression ration. I may trail port instead. I would love to pipe but I keep thinking of $3 per gallon gas and fueling our 4 sleds! The mileage I hear of just sucks, should have got an SRX!

plus when you blow one up, you're out a $60 dome, not a $300 head

good point junior, but if your looking for reliable performance on just bolting on an aftermarket head, it's just not going to be worth it. The head mod is not the way to go either, and porting without pipes probably wouldn't benefit like with pipes.
