How many would be interested in doing a TY ride during the middle of the week? I'm not into riding the UP on the weekends, just way to much traffic for me. Maybe even a saddlebag ride for a few days. Just a thought and wanted to see if others had any interest. :rocks: :WayCool:

i think that is a great idea, i do most of my riding up there mid-week, especially in the month following christmas

Oh..and MrSled I'm not trying to steal any thunder you have built up for the Muni rides just a different twist on it. Hope I have you're blessing on this, thanks!

Many of the people that come to the UP to ride with the ty crew come early during the week and do their trail riding then, and off trail riding during the weekend. That is how i do my riding as well, especially during the busy time.

i am a little apprehensive of off trail riding ever since i totalled a sled a couple years ago by hitting a hidden rock. It caught the corner of the bulkhead and twisted the whole frame. Put my knee through the back of the hood and tore it up pretty good.

Ouch...How fast were you going, and on what sled?

Why do all these TY rides have to be in Muni? I'm not much for off-trail adventures, and the trail maps of that area look dull, and limited. I also keep reading about limited gas stops and then long lines when you do find gas. That doesn't sound appealing to me.

Schedule a ride up in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, and I'd be there.

I was going about 40, and was riding a '93 XLT special, and it was mint. When i totalled that, i bought my first '97 SX 700, so i guess it wasn't the worst thing but my knee was still pretty messed up. Insurance treated me good on the deal too.

As for the muni rides, i agree somewhat. I dont know why everyone wants to go to munising everytime. Myself, i prefer the keweenaw peninsula a lot. The snow always seems to be better, and it always seems to be smoother (except around Houghton) I stay in Baraga quite a bit because it allows riding in a lot of directions, including up into the keweenaw (we rode from baraga to copper, back down 3 to bruce crossing, over to sidnaw and back up to baraga this year, 365 miles.) You can also ride east over towards big bay, marquette, and munising. Munising isn't bad, but they always seem to have a TON of traffic and its true, gas stations are a little sketchy.

It's the most central location for everyone to meet. For those of us that live East of Lake Michigan it makes for more driving to get to the West side of Lake Michigan and Vis-versa, equal driving for all is best. I would rather drive no further than St. Ignace but will travel a little farther if needed. Long gas lines? Not sure what you mean. Never had a problem with long lines ever but, again I don't ride in the UP on the weekends. The trails out of Munising go anyway you want, North, South, East and West. From there you can get to any location you want to go.
