HI all
I just recently bought a 01 sx700R and have really ridden once....wasnt hooking up at all... I have tuned the track to have more preload on the read shock and now have a 50/50 gap on my stock transfer rods, while sitting on machine. I am planning a trip in a few weeks and would like to have the skid set up before I leave, as parts will not be available where were going.
My question is....can you tune the weight transfer by the rear shock alone or should I just buy some aftermarket rods. I ride a mix of trail and powder and would like to be able to adjust traction/trenching for the different conditions.
If I do install After market rods.....can it lead to premature hyfax wear????
and who had the best deals on them ?
Thanks in advance

they are worth it
i have had a set on my sx700 for 6 yrs. and i will tell you they beat the stock set up hands down. mine are the old maxximum performance ones with the nuts. Now they make ones in which no tools are needed. as far as the hyfax is concerned i dont have any abnormal hyfx wear. but when you change the rod settings it will give you more weight transfer, mine is set at the 4th line and when i dialed in the front end my sx became the best handling sled i have ever owned.had a 97 500xt but never had installed the quick rods on it so never got the deal untill i did them on my 98 sx. plus the factory rods dont even come close to the quick rods IMO. i dont like the bender rods they limit transfer so this just my take on them.adjusting the rear shock is only going to give ride stiffness or softness the rods are what couples the suspension
good luck

Hey Redmater,
I have the same sled 97 SX 700. I was wondering what those rods will actually do for me. My problem with Yamaha is I find the sled sits too low. I have cranked that big spring nut about halfway. I'm 240 and like a firm ride so as not to bottom out too often. I may have mad a mistake when I bought this sled in 2001 second hand and staeted cranking those nuts thinking that firmed up the suspension, I have prob losened and re cranked several times befor I realized I was an idiot and was doing the wrong thing. Where should the bolts be on those stock rods for now as I look into these new ones?

I sure like mine. Put a set of Benders on my 98 MM. Now a simple 30 second adjustment changes the whole set up depending on what conditions we're riding in.
