The other night while checking out some ice-fisherman, one guy was showing off his 2006 Arctic Cat Crossfire demo sled. He said.."Take er for a rip!" Of course I didn't think twice...to hop on a new sled. Anyway, I didn't like it at all. The windshield and dash looks hideous. The seat had wrinkles in it and it just looked cheap overall. The power didn't seem any more than my SRX or my RX1M. It is an expensive machine, but when you ride my RX1 Mountain...that feels expensive. The cat felt cheap. I was happy to jump back on the MM7.
Of course I raved about it when I returned...but Cat is just not for me. 136" track with toothpick like skis...not really a cross-over sled imho. Sorry...and I hope he doesn't read this. He did say Cat is coming out with a 4 year warranty. Can you say bankrupt??? (I don't mean to bash the sled...it was nice to drive and it has a good suspension...but it's just not my taste and not a Yamaha).

I have felt that way about every cat i have ever ridden, they all feel real cheap and poorly built to me. It feels like you can feel the chassis flexing basically all the time, the console and handlebar controls are all really flimsy plastic junk, nothing looks engineered, just junk bolted together to move on snow.
Disposable sleds
They are disposable. If you are lucky you can get through 1 season, then you need to throw them out!!!

My buddies 03 F-7 seems to have held up well. Has 3000 on it without much of anything wrong.
I have ridden it many times and like it. Seemed to be well put together to me. The Viper is faster, heavier, and not as well suspended.
Ah well

koodat,
How can your Viper be faster than a F7? Only if you have it tripple piped.

i agree, how is a viper faster than an f7 unless piped? i would hafta say the same, any cat i've taken for a ride has felt cheap and looked cheap especially the firecats. although the only one i did like was an 02 zr800 cross country, that was a nice sled.

yea the old body style wasn't as bad, my uncle had a '95 ZRT 800 and that thing was a rocket, and it wasn't too bad on the trails either. Still wasn't up near to the par of the yamaha's.

Every AC I've ridden has been OK...that's about all I can say...OK. They always feel like they force you into a certain seating position, rather then feeling natural. They seem to ride pretty plush, but I've never been a fan of their handling, kinda tippy. I've been reading up on the new Crossfire and it's getting rave reviews. Not having Reverse with the Diamond drive seems to be the biggest complaint. Something about a Yammie makes me always feel at home. They're so predictable that's the part I love. Got my new Supertrax yesterday and more awesome reviews on the 06' Yammies. They also mention that the 07' lineup is going to be possibly better then the 06's...I got goose bumps. What do you think? New motor/s? Some incredibly light Chassis? Maybe something for the 500cc class or lower? Who knows, but Snowtrax also said that Yamaha is totally commiting themselves to get back in the #1 market share position, which they haven't been in since the Phazer. Were talking millions dedicated!!! I think everyone should old on to their hats, cuz the future is looking real blue.

Fit and finish is one of reasons I like Yamaha. You will never see that on a cat. Supertrax bashed the 05 Sabercat pretty good on this.

Be careful, you don't want to sound like the young kids at dootalk over here. I just threw my F7 out and gave it to the dealer for an '06 Attak. He can just dispose of it and save me the trouble of doing it myself. I hated it the past 2 winters when I put 8,225 miles on an '04 F7 and had to spend $18 on an idler wheel w/bearing!!!!
