I opened the airbox to spray fogger and I see slots where maybe a barrier should be, Am I missing something? This pic is as it looked when I took the cover off...

Your air-box is complete less the cover and the foam filter frame. I think you are referring to the vertical slots that are in the front and rear of the box. They are molded into the box and appear to me to act as supports for dividers for three individual compartments within the air box itself. However, I have not seen a SRX that has the " dividers " in place. How and when these dividers are used, I don't know....

My 98 has the dividers in place. Did you buy this sled used? There may be some performance gains when you remove them, but i dought it. Check with turk,yamaholic,ding or MrSled they should be able to answer this.

they used the dividers on the '98 and '99 but found that there is a little bit more power without them, so the '00-'02s dont have them. A lot of people take them out on the '98-'99s as well, its called "gutting" the airbox, just a matter of preference. Slightly more intake noise without them, but not bad at all.
