Has anyone tried this? Just curious if it would ride better than the 02 Viper set up. Our 99sx rides much better than the Viper does, especially in the rough stuff.

wow, the '99 sx is a short travel too. Just get the shocks in the viper revalved for your rider weight and riding style, and they will be much better, even better than the sx.

Its a Pioneer long travel. Yes, I know I can send the shocks in. The question was will it work? Besides the stock travel, the rear on a Viper and Sx are not really any different and our long travel works so well and would have better top end. Just a thought before we sell the 99. With no snow, have to think about some projects!

Yes it will work, you can switch the shocks and i believe the control spacers will be different as well, so you will have to switch those too.

Already have Maxximum peformance adjustable rods, so it should be ok. I know the Pioneer set up blasted through the rough stuff better than the Viper. I was impressed. I had a previous Maxximum long travel(post Bruce), and the Pioneer setup was stronger in the stutter bumps and moguls.

It's all in the shocks. Change the valving on the stock viper shocks to the same as the Maxximum shocks and it will be the same as you're 99. Those 02 shocks were valved from Yamaha to jump houses.

If I just keep the Pioneer shocks I won't have to pay to revalve. That and the fact the sled will sit lower with the same performance is the reason I am thinking about this.

even if you have aftermarket rods the control rod spacers will still probably be different. You wont need to change the top one if you have the adjustables but you will still have to change the bottom one because it controls the drop out of the rear arm on the skid
