I have a 98 SRX 700 in mint shape. I was considering trading up to a 01'. Is there much difference between the 01 and the 98? I'm am trying to decide if I should keep running my 98 or if I would be happy with the 01. Any advice would be appreciated.

2001 SRX has a few more HP. Different graphics, silver tunnel, silver trailing arms, blue bellypan, improved suspension over the '98. The '01 also has a separate knob for hand and thumb warmers, dual headlight, 300W magneto. That's all I can think of right now

2001 also has about 6-8 more horse due mainly to changes in porting, lighter flywheel for quicker revving, lighter brake rotor for less inertia, completely different suspension calibrations (along with shorter control rods) for MUCH better weight transfer. 2001 is definately a much better all around machine.

Thanks for the info. I love my 98' so it sounds like I will love the 01' even more. I've driven many different sleds and nothing has the feel of an SRX.

2001 was the quickest box stock sled ever in the 1/4 mile.

is that out of every sled? or just 700's? A 01 srx could beat a mach z in a 1/4 mile?

that was EVERY sled, all the 800, 900, 1000 twins and triples. I dont know what the new mach ran in the 1/4 at amsnow's shootout.

How do the SRX's compare to the F7's? They claim an F7 has around 140hp and its lighter.

properly setup SRX will take an f7 start to finish. I;d say a boxstock one will take it in anything over 1000feet, but lose in a shorter distance.

yea in a short distance the F7 is much more of a contender than most yamaha faithful would like to admit, but on the big end its all blue if it is set up right.

never had an issue with a non-race F7, the little black box goes a long ways towards that 140hp, lol, without it they're a fiar amount shy of that.
the SRX will pull the F7 out the bigend, in the short distance it's all about your suspension set-up and rider ability (to make it hookup)
