I am looking to get rid of my 97 vmax 600sx for a 02-03 viper and i am wondering what would be the best set-up for my riding. Me and the wife will be mainly doing some ditch banging and fields, with the occasional trip to the black hills in south daktota which is like miny mountains (hills). I like to try and get stuck in any powder I can find whether it be ditches or drifts or what ever. The vmax has a camo track that has i think a 1" or 1.25" paddle but my size (6'3" and 285lb) combined with the lack of travel would get me stuck all the time. I am asking if it would be worth the money to find some extensions and make it 136" or just get a 1.25" or 1.5" track (121") under it. I am not real interested in studs.
O and she rides a polaris 440 with 133" track so she is usually fine and laughing at me getting stuck all the time.

definately worth it to go 136, maybe even 141 or 144 if you like riding off trail, and it will still have good trail manners. My buddy just 136'd his sx this last winter and after riding that, i dont know if i will ride a 121 on trails anymore, its awesome.

I have been told to look into a 00-02 mountain max with a 141 X 2 track as they are reliable and have no power valves to clean, I think with some ice scratchers that would be a possibility.

Go with a 00 or newer Mountain Max if you can find one that works for your needs. If you feel you need more power then pipe it and add a set of ice scratchers to keep it cool and it should work well. If you're set on going with a Viper I'd pickup a cheap 02 and 136 it and leave the rest stock and just work on clutching. JMO.

Thats what i thought you would say, I am looking at a skidoo mxz 670ho that has a 136X1.75 that is in madison at interlakes sport center what are your thoughts. Also i might also look for a sxr that has been 136'ed or if i can find one cheap or in good condition with a tired track i can do the work myself.
I have one more question for you srxspec, do you think 1.5 is enough or should i go to like 1.75 as i dont think 1.25 is quite enough, but then again that is my opinion.
