might be a dumb thing but they have 93 hp and are way light, and can be made lighter, had very good luck with my 98 xtc 600 and it was heavier than the exciter, mad close to the same ponys, and does anyon eknow will the 600 top end fit in the cran case? do you think it would be a waste of time trying to make this thing fly?

I think it would be pretty sweet. Watching a 93 exciter beat the new 05' 600's. That would awesome. I think it would make for a good project since they are so light. Get rid of all that unneccesary steel and it will fly. GO FOR IT.

does anybody else have anything to say? lol
I saw a old exciter i think 89 by looking at it, anyways it did 120 in 1000 feet. no joke.

lol, that thing does fly, and the guy has it forsale too. Everything on that sled is polished, with a black hood. Looks sharp.

I guess I'm against it, not because I don't think the sled will be fast and competitive but I think it is a waste to subject such a beautiful and rare sled to that type of beating. If I could afford to buy and SX Exciter right now I would. Restore it to like new condition, trail/lake ride it every now and then, it's a sweet sled. Just my thoughts.

rx1yama18,I bet that was one of Hauck's old imp stk sleds.Jeff lustilla owns it now it still goes pretty good but will still have a hard time compting against the newer stock sleds. If you lightened one up you would have to race prostock or mod and there's no way it could compete.

I agree with exciter 570, just buy the standard one and go crazy. besides, all the stuff that makes it an SX would be changed anyway, so no real benefit of tearing apart a nice sled

the sx makes 93 hp, the other ones were 78,all my old grass drag sleds are still mint and running today with over 15000 km on them, ya even my 600 xtc, and it ran alot of dirt, so not worried about that,im thinkin in lightening up by skis, maybe swap out struts with aluminum shafts, just light cheating

still, if you are going to mod the engine anyway, you can actually just order the different parts engine wise from, say, port yamaha. then you have the extra hp and have probably saved some $$ since the sx seems to bring exciter can be had for next to no $$ at all. that way you have more to make it fast too just what I would do
