My 1983 SVR540 does not seem to be firing on both cylinders consistantly. Compression is even on both cyclinders and carb has been cleaned. I have spark on both, but seems a bit weaker on one. I was thinking about changing the coil. Can anyone give me any other ideas or tell me how I can verify the coil is good or bad. Thanks,
Brad

is one spark plug wet and the other dry.Do a resistence check on the coil and wires. You might have to get them from the dealer. If they test good I think you might have a crank seal gone.Maybe that spark plug is bad

Yes one is wet and the other is dry. I have put new plugs in. I will do a resistance check on the coil. How would a bad crank seal cause this problem?
