Anyone know of somewhere I can buy one of these where I don't have to mortgage my house? Why on earth are these so expensive? Cheapest one I've found is from Rich for $229. Someone must have made one by now I would think. Anyone have plans? For the amount of clutch work I do it would be cheaper to pay the dealer $20 a time!

if youre talking about primary clutch spider seperator tools, there are several posts here about it, I made my own, you can too, cheaper and easier, just make a plate with three pins to fit in the clutch, and a 2 plates to go over the top to sandwitch the shieve, then make a rod to the spec length, weld a nut on it for a socket, and put three bars on the other end to fit the spider...

there are other types out there you can make, just look around here.

Clutch Tool

Check out the post on this forum called "What's the best way to separate the clutch". I posted pictures of the tool I made that works pretty well. As MM said, there's lots of ways you can easily make a tool that won't break the bank.

Well, I made that exact same tool today. I found that thread last night. Still won't budge. I'm soaking some PB blaster into the threads overnight. Hopefully that will loosen it up. If it won't come loose tomorrow morning its off to the dealers. I know that tool will work on most clutches but this one has some issues. I don't think its been apart since 97 when it was built. Its rather disgusting but I will get it done. Glad its not mine. Of course mine would never get this bad. Thanks for the help.

Tight Clutch

Yes, remember left hand threads. I had one on a '98 SRX apart with 12000 miles on it. Took me several minutes of pulling like mad but it finally came. Helps if you loosen it a little and then tighten it and just keep going back & forth. Might need 2 people to pull on it.
