I had a guy bring his 02' SXViper to me to fix this past winter, works with a buddy of mine.

He seized the PTO cylinder hard enough to stretch/break the connecting rod due to alot of full throttle high temp operating on marginal snow covered trails.

Pretty much a complete motor rebuild minus the two good cylinders.
Crank would need a going through with addition of connecting rod, piston and rings, and bearings. Cylinder was questionable when I had it. Might need to find a good used one.

I told him I might be interested in it later this year.
I already had the motor out when he picked it up, he couldn't afford to fix it and didn't have any insurance.

Could any of you guys suggest what I would want to offer for it as it is now?

The rest of the sled needs the usual going over lubricating and such but seems to be in good condition. Except for the right side hyfax that was ripped off and wrapped around the front of the skid!! :D:DP

The owner doesn't really know alot about sleds so I'm thinking I could buy it from him pretty cheap.
What should I offer him considering he'll probabley check the book value on it to gauge what he needs to get for it even though the motor is blown?
I believe it had like 1200/1500 miles on it.
I would be doing the labor except for crank rebuild.

TIA
Drew

man, if i were you i would not touch that thing unless your thinking of selling it or parting it out. even doing that i wouldn't touch it. if he broke the rod, and wrapped the hifax around the ski with under 2k miles, that thing is gonna be beat to $hit! your gonna tear into this sled and find more and more problems with it other than the visible stuff. i'd take a good long look at it before you decide what to do. just my thoughts on it...

I hear that I bought one from a friend and it looked good but once I started tearing into it I found a lot of stuff! Take a good hard look at her!
