I have a 99 srx 700 and I currently have the rear skid out of it to replace the track. I was wondering how to setup the rear suspension. How far should the limiter straps be set out too? how much preload on the front shock, and the center shock of the skid? I want some weight transfer, and will hopefully be able to pull the skis after it is all said and done with the clutch, and track. I also already have transfer rods. I am also a big rider, 285 lbs so please take that into consideration. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks alot, RC

The SRX is faster & quicker with the limiters tightened up. Making the front end come up really slows em down. A 99 700 SRX is the fastest between 8200-8400 rpm. Drop 1 tooth on top for gearing for a heavier guy. 700 SRX,s have been around since 1998 & I have owned em since then. Still have a 98 today that runs well. There is stuff that actually works & a lot of stuff will slow you down. Traction & clutching is everything. A good lake race clutch combo won,t work well on trails & deep snow...everything is a compromise...can,t have it all. To get something you gotta give something else up! No one set up will do everything well. Can,t tell ya much more...that is 7 years of messing with 6 & 700 SRX,s in a nutshell.

ok, so you suggest tightening up the limiter straps, like how tight? How many threads above the top nut? Also, what size gears is going 1 tooth down? know anyone who has one cheap? thanks turk in advance, and will gladly listen to your advise, i am a newb and dont know much.

Stock gearing is 23/37...go to a 22 top tooth gear. I run my limiters so there is about 1 1/2" of thread showing. You gonna have to loosen the rear spring a bit & tighten the front...you just gotta play with the settings. The A$$ dyno will throw you off...what feels faster is usually slower. Do some changes & run against a buddies sled to see if it slows you down or speeds you up. The 98-99 SRX,s really overeved badly & most clutch kits gave you a steep helix to bring down rpm,s...works but not the best way to do things. Make sure clutches are perfectly aligned & centred.
