Had a water pump failure in the middle of a U.P. trip. The impeller splines AND the shaft splines are very worn. Anyone else have this problem? My SX700 has about 10k miles, and still runs great. I've already put in the newer style crank end bearings- what's next? Also, it seems that the rubber washer on the impeller bolt doesn't allow the impeller to be really tight on the shaft- it relies totally on the splines. This would make certain the splines would eventually be fretted away! How about a steel washer- like every other impeller I've ever seen.

out west it is very comin for the impeller ti spin on the shaft.
I fell that yamaha should come out with a steel impeller or just a stronger metal
