enclosed trailers

Yes covered is def. better for the machines because of the road salt and sand but try to get one with a flod down door ramp it is a lot easier but more expensive we had a ramp that stored under the trailer for years and we did it no problem. I have seen many people with the same type of setup and it seems to work well for them, enclosed it is really the best way to go.

enclosed is the only way to go! lot less corrosion and water getting on the sleds. helps sleds last longer, and give better resale value. how do you like getting to your sledding destination with your clean canvas covered sled on an open trailer only to find it covered with salt, slush and crap? nuff said. ski

I'll second what 'ski' has to say, and verify that X-treme makes a heck of a trailer. I've got thousands of miles on mine with not one problem, and it's still under warranty (five years).

Get a covered trailer for your expensive investments.

You can say that again. Once you get a covered trailer you will never go back. I had the cleanest sled on the trail last winter in my area. My machine only sees salt from road crossings at best.

They are also nice to store your sleds in the summer. I just bought one that I love. it' all aluminum, dual axel, viber glass shell made by loadmaster. http://www.hsloadmaster.com/vlinedetail.cfm?sm_pic=42

I only have a 1/2 ton dodge so I wanted something light (my trailer weighs 1600#)and low to the ground so I can use it for other things. the wide ones with the wheels underneith make it alittle unconvientent to use for other motorsports and are hard to see around while driving.

I actually got a hell of a deal on mine. The guy had it for 6mths and needed money and sold it to me for $5000.00 with all the options including mag aluminium wheels. the trailer lists for $7500.00
if you be patient and shop consitant the deals will come your way.

The tilt up tops are the cheapest but can be a pain in the neck when the cover gets covered with snow or ice. The clam shells are a little more but are much better, except you can't stand fully upright inside them or raise a sled hood all the way. The full height with door ramps are the most expensive, but are the best. You just have to keep the hinge area cleared out so it doesn't ice up. It is really nice to be able to stand up inside, and open the sled hoods.

Drive on - drive off is real nice unless you have reverse on all of your sleds.

I agree once you have a covered trailer you will never go back to a open top. I have a sledbed drive on/off 12' with a fiberglass top. Real nice trailer and pulls easy.

I have a BEARCAT enclosed and its great. My sled looks like it came off the show floor every ride. The cost a bit more but worth it. Go enclosed... :WayCool:

I so want a 16 or 18 foot enclosed. I am getting tired of working on my sleds at the races while laying on the ice. Just not in the budget picture AGAIN this year!!!
I have trailer Envey!!!!

The 26' Expedition is a blast, with 120 and heat... Darn near a party room when wrenching and de-icing the sleds. I do need to add a fan to move the air around, as the top half gets really hot quick!

I have everything in my enclosed trailer.. Heat 12volt lights and 110v lights if I am plugged in. I have fully upgrade the trailer with stereo and everything. Power vent in the summer to keep the heat down. My sleds travel in style and stored in style... :) -40 outside it will get close to workable in the trailer.
