as some of you may know from all my questions, im going 136" on my viper. i will be using this for 50% trail (good trails, not dirt) and 50% off trail in the u.p. in the muni area. is a 1.25" enough track or do i need to go 1.5" or 16"x1.75" ? i dont want to go too big and lose trailibility, or too small and regret it when im digging it out every 5 minutes! help me make up my mind.

For most conditions in da UP, the 1.25 will work fine. I have been using different 2" tracks for the past few years, without any problems. I will admit that it is sooo nice to pull up to a 136x1.25 that is stuck, yank it out, and hop back on the 151 without wondering if I am stuck...

Well, I've got a baby .75" track on my SXR and I really haven't had an issue with getting stuck. Now, obviously I'm not in the mountains but we get a fair amount of snow (3feet of powder at Christmas) and I haven't had to dig it out yet. I'm really surprised at how well it does for such a crappy track. I would think that 1.25 is more then enough for 99% of the situations...but that's just me.

16 wide is very tight and not for trail riding. 136x1.5 is the perfect mix between on and off trail. One thing to remember though is 1.5 or taller lugs are slick in the corners, you cant stud them and you need to be carefull all the time in the turns. If you went 1.25 you could still put 108 studs down the center but then you would also have to go to 8T drivers. a 1.5 will work with 9T. ===SRXSRULE===

i thought you couldn't stud the 1.25"s on vipers and still have the protectors and exchangers???

32, as rules post reads, you need 8 tooth drivers to run studs in the 1.25 with the protectors. ski

Hey guys , i am with the 8 th driver with a studded 1.25 track , but tom hartman has his crew runnin a studded 1.25 track with 9 tooth drivers , you might want to hartman inc. and talk with tom , i had a 1.25 w/studs and the stock 9th drivers in my sled but thought it was to tight to run it that way so i pulled it back apart and put 8th drivers in for clearance just to take out the next year to run 9th non slip with a 1 3/4 track w/no protectors , and it works great ....so far since 02 i run run stock viper track , a 1.25 studded track and a 1 3/4 non studded track , i will never run studs again on a trail sled and will never run a track any less than 1 1/2 .....and i ride 50% trail 50% make my own trail ... just my .02

well, i an now narrowed down to the 1.25" 6 pitch and the oem ski doo 1.45" intense design track. im running 8 tooth extroverts for sure. will there be a big difference between the two? will the 1.45" go places the 1.25" wont?

track height is not what gets you to places others cant go. it's mostly rider ability. the track will help, but if the rider is not capable you will still be stuck all the same. if you dont plan on studding, you can run either of those tracks with 9 toothters. ski
