Is there anything I can do to the stock skid to lighten it up, without losing the strength? I am not going to swap skids out, because the yamaha skid is fine, just gotta get it setup right. Was wondering if there was anything I could take out or not to lighten it up. Also, all around lighten up the sled, without losing strength or durability. Any help would be appreciated

thanks, i coudl prolly make lighter arms myself tho, and save a bunch of money. I was sorta wonderign if there was stuff I could take out or off.

Probably lighter metal springs on your shocks, less or lighter wheels, especially if you always ride on good snow, but seeing your in Iowa, I'm sure you ride in less than great snow conditions down there. Basically changing all the iron to a lighter metal would be the best, but the cost might kill you.

yes, your right about iowa. Not very good snow conditions here, I actually just added a set of bigger idler wheels for that same reason. I will try and see if i can fab up some new arms, h and w, and see where that gets me. I might be able to make some out of round tubing, that should be alot lighter, especially if I use chromeolley (or however you spell it)

swap out the steel body shocks with some alunimun ones and check the rear top axle if it is a steel one like my 98 had.

has aluminum bodied shocks, and yes, it has a steel top axle, pretty heavy I know. I will prolly just leave it for now, since my budget is being eaten up fast for this sled. I have spent lots of money so far that I havnt got yet. Will be getting my bonus on friday, and it is all gone already, on track, milling heads, clutching, gearing, and having my ohlins front shocks rebuild.
