backing plates

I have the chance to pick up some woodys double digger backing plates for 20 bucks for 2 bags of 48.
here is the problem.
i already have 5/16 studs and the plates are 7 mm. are these plates the same as the 5/16 plates? can i just drill out the holes or are they an entirely different plate and it won't work if i drill out the holes?
anyone know???

Seems like it would be a pain the ***, but don't see why it would not work.

they should be the same center to center. drill them out and your good to go!
