Is it a big deal to put standard washers or something similar behind the secondary (the same size as the ones on it) to shim for the proper belt ride height? Or is it necessary to order the OEM Yamaha type? What's anyone else use?
Thanks,
Jon

Do you want a secondary belt adjuster? It will keep the clutch locked as well as get rid of the belt "suqeal" that sometimes occurs...

get rid of the shims and get the belt deflector adjuster like grape suggested. way better set up. and it locks the secondary down possibly adding more usable hp to the ground. best 40.00 you spend. prolongs belt life too. ski

Thanks for the tips, but without spending too much money right now, would normal washers from the local hardware do the trick?

washers
The big diference from the washers at the hardware store and the ones you are suposed to use is the thickness. The thickness of the OEM yamaha ones are all the same. The ones you get at the hardware store will vary in thickness.
If you go to the hardware store take you calipers and get some that are the same.

It works very well just make sure your allan head screw is tight.
