when clutching and gearing a sled , what overdrive ratio should I expect the clutches to fully shift out too. I running a roller secondary on a cpr piped sxr700 , with peak heads and boost bootle.. it shifts out at 8900-9100 but then slowly climbs to 9400-9500 on a long straight away . currently I geared 22/40 not sure if I sould go back to stock 22/39 or not
I have 89l empty with a gr-gr-gr ,, also might try stock spring .. the stock head wouldn't pull it , but with the new head seems to have a little more power

Overrev
I have nearyl the same setup.. You need to add tip weight to the primary or a higher finishing angle on the helix to bring down the rpms. If the backshift is ok now, trying backing the twist of the secondary also. Jason

That is pretty funny that you posted the power difference with the head. This year I am running the stock gaskets and weights I could pull at 9100 on my CPR's last year I can only pull at 8000 this year. I tried 8DN-20's with 4.5 in middle and tip empty yesterday with Y-W-Y pri spring. 80* twist on my secondary with a 47/43 and a green spring. I was able to bang 9300 and fall back to 9000. It's not a bad setup but I think I can get it better. I am thinking of going softer on my pri finish possibly stock Y-G-Y or B-W-B. Also could add some tip weight. I still have low top speed of only 93mph. with stock gears 22/39. Strange but true stories. Doug

with the above setup I can hit 108mph on the gps on a long snow packed trail. but with the overrev I should be able to get some more out of it
Thinking of running 21/40 gears which will yeild a 120-122mph at .83 overdrive. but it should get there alot quicker.
the sled shifts well with the setup but starts to over rev.. what are you guys running for egt's ??? I run 1380-1400 wot with the centre one showing to be the hottest with the mag next..
piston wash is good on all except the mag which is too lean, I think the mid range is causing that and not the main jet

I have tried 8AB's VERY fun on the trail from 40 - 80 and 8CA's about the same as an 8AB. The stock 8DF and now the 8DN-20's. The 8DN-20 is a smooth weight. I ran them yesterday with the big rollers 16mm. What rollers are you running on your primary. I have never seen 100 with my pipes. I get to 90 and it's always pissed out. I did get 105 on radar/gps with the single pipe and the 8AB setup. I think I might go back down to my 21/39 which is what I was running when I got 105. I also hear good things about them 89l's. I want to try them also this week. If your over reving you should drop in a stock SXR spring. You will get faster up shift since it's about 8lb's lighter on the finish. I am interested in the size of your primary rollers.
Also, I am running 150's across 47.5 pilots 1.0 air jet with no spacers this year. I did the cage notch. I am also running a tempa flow, which has been very sweet. These pipes are very temp sensitive and I coated them and running tempa this year. I am only getting 7.5 mpg however. I do run mostly trails wide open brake wide open brake blip blip blip you get the picture. That could be causing my poor mileage.

I am running the 14.5 rollers in the primary (i think, which ever are the smallest..) as for jetting its all over the place with the peak heads and boost bootle , more so then stock head and no bottle.. I would not recommend these specs to anyone but here goes 152.5, 155, 152.5
3.5, 4.5, 4.5 .. (p,c,m) the mag was getting toasty in the mid range so I bumped it to 4.5 haven;t tested yet ... this is good to -5 to -10 f gas milage don;t know been doing all wot lake runs this year so probaly shit... also try toluene as a octane booster. not sure of the results yet ...
also make sure that there is clearence under the mag pipe b/w it and the motor mount , mine wore a hole through it which I fixed on the weekend

sxr700, I was running pi pipes and 155 mains straight across (good piston wash) put on a boost bottle and burnt down center and mag?????? after new pistons did a few runs and the jetting is out to lunch, I'm thinking of taking the bottle off and putting in plumbing caps upside down. From what I was told its the straight boots that make the 2-3hp on top end anyway???

center hole
My center jug runs hot also, but it seems to be at part throttle. WOT seems to be fine. I was going to raise the needle in the center card and play around on the lake to see if I can get it to drop.

Have you guys tried gearing taller yet? I have been gradually gearing taller and taller and finally stopped gaining speed at 24/37 secondary 20 deg. This setup was good for 130.7 in 3000ft and 123.2 in 2000ft. I think it's less efficent in overdrive, dont go past 1:1. Just my 2 cents...

Thats on bare ice and a real radar gun. I have run 123 on hard pack. 85-8600rpm,89a-10 weights, 52-42helix, stock springs(speed track).
