I have been thinking lately that should sell my viper and get a Vector with the intention to put a turbo on it within a year or so. The problem is that I have become quite fond of my viper. I really don't want to part with her. It has been the best sled I have ever owned. I have never had problem with it what so ever. I have driven a prototype Vector and I was not that impressed. I have since become crazied about getting a turbo kit though. I have seen several turbo Rx-1 and Vector videos. There is something about the sound they make and power that makes me nuts. I need a turbo 4 stroke now. Should I pony up and get a vector and never look back or pay the Viper off and then start my turbo Vector lightweight project ? Its a hard decision. My viper is my bitch. I ride her like I stole her. I treat her good though. The best part is that she keeps coming back for more.

if you dont have lakes around you, or you dont do lake runs much a turbo isnt necessary, as far as trail riding goes i dont think a turbo vector will benefit you much. at least on the trails i ride its hard to open it up for more than a second or two at a time. but it shure would be nice to have all that power at your disposal!

NB-Viper: post this question in the four-stroke section
99srx700, there are turbo kits for 2-strokes and they are VERY luckey 2 get 300 miles on em
why would u think yamaha will bring back the 2-strokes now that they have high performance 4-strokes sleds figered out :ORC (weight and power), there sales are on the climb, and they have much to come in the next season
the 06s are just a sign of what is to come

I would say keep your Viper until you are certain that you are ready for a 4 stroke.....if you wait a few years the 4 strokes will be even better......the Viper is still a great sled.

.......and there is no way Yamaha 2 strokes are coming back, before you know it Yamaha's 4 strokes will be just as light and powerful as everyone's 2 strokes. It's only a matter of time.

I have had lot's of sleds and I was deciding last year what to get and I bought a vector and love it.I speed ran it a few times last year and right now I'm running it on asphalt.I beat my buddies 2001 srx up to 80 and I'm dead even with my buddies 98 srx 700 on the lakes. My vector was stock also.I have drove Jeff simon's turbo vector and it fly's.

2 strokes comming back....not a chance.
Yamaha invested way to much $$$$ in the 4 strokes and keep improving the performance to go back to 2 stroke
The Viper is a great machine and I would hang on to it for maybe another season or two to allow Yamaha to fix some bugs in the new sleds.

I personally like the vector over the rx1 on the trails so do a couple of my buddies and with the right clutching you can keep right up with a rx1.

i can take the heat dude, sounds to me like ur just here to talk shit. Now wonder a few people i know dont use the forum much anymore, too much over opinionated meat heads on here, like urself buddy. I wouldnt waste my money on a new yamaha 4 stroke, they are slugs. But that is my opinion, Im sure there are many that will be very happy with them, i will stick with my 2 stroke.

99srx700,
i'm not tring to be a sh*t head or anything, just corrected u on a few statments and wanted to know (and still want to know) why u deleted ur post:ORC
i desagree with u about there being any sh*t heads on this site, i have not found any here yet at least
u can keep ur 2-stroke for as long as ya want, don't bother me at all
i just wanted u 2 know about the turbos for 2-strokes and such and that yamaha will never go back to the 2-strokes again :4STroke:

fair enough man
deleted it cause it was just gonna get flacked on, so figured i would get rid of it, so the post didnt turn into exactly what we just made it, Simple As That Man. Continue on with the opinions please, and disregard out messages to each other, thanks alot, and sorry to hijack the post, OH, and as far as ur reality check, how does that come into play, i must be here, in reality, otherwise I wouldnt be on this forum buddy
