I don't know if anyone will be able to help me out with this, but I am 16, and I want to get a motorcycle. I was thinking about the 2006 Yamaha XT 225. It would be my first motorcycle. I have never rode a motorcycle before, and I plan on taking the safety course so that I can get a Motorcycle Endorsement before I'm 18. If anyone has any information on this bike, please let me know.

are you looking to get this bike because you like the enduro's? or because you've heard they're good to learn on?
my recommendations for a good learner bike is go out and get an cheap old 125, some good crash gear and ride the bejesus out of it, if you crash an old dirtbike, it's not a big deal, you don't wanna crash a brand new one, even if it is an enduro. and it's an unfortunate reality that the fastest way to learn is in the dirt where it's easier to find the traction point, and alot less violent when you do find it. plus it tends to happen at lower speeds that are alot harder to get hurt at.

the 225 is a good learner bike on the street. thing is after a couple of years you will find it is gettin small. best thing is get an old dirt bike ot enduro and go trail runnin or play in a pit. it will give you a good idea what to expect at least on dirt. on pavement i find that the bikes tend to stick more than they do on dirt.
by the way i had a 1992 xt225 and am currently runnin a 2001 xt350.
check your local paper or barginhunter. usually a few of those 225 in there cause ppl out grew them after they learned on em.
