I am wondering if anyone knows why the newer SRX's run at 8500. I just put ported heads off of a 98 on my 2000 and am not sure if I should clutch it for 8300 like before or go to 8500. I had the understanding that on the 2000's and up the porting changed and 8500 was now where they made their power...Anyone know???

The 00,s & newer have a digital ignition system with a different timing curve & like to run a little higher rpm,s.

thanks turk! I'll set it up for 8500.. Another quick question. I am running Heel clickers now and a 48-36 helix. If I go to what you suggest...50/40 will I see much of a difference? If we're talking half a ski in 1000ft I won't bother.. but if it would get me another sled length in the same distance it would be worth it to me...
